Local 1000 Returns to Telework Bargaining April 27
Our new leadership has been working since March 7 to get back to the table on telework after outgoing President Richard Louis Brown failed to listen to members and reach an agreement. We’ve been able to re-start the process and are returning to bargaining with the state on April 27.
Environmental Committee Commemorates Earth Day
April 22 is Earth Day, and on Saturday, April 24, the SEIU Local 1000 Environmental Committee is taking part in the first public celebration of Earth Day in Sacramento since the pandemic began.
SEIU Local 1000 Board of Directors Meeting Recap from April 18/New Meeting Scheduled
On Monday, April 18, our SEIU Local 1000 Board of Directors held a virtual meeting to continue their work in governing our union. The Board is comprised of 65 member-elected representatives—51 District Labor Council Presidents, 10 Bargaining Unit Chairs, and 4 Statewide Officers.

Working “out of class,” where our represented employees are called upon to do work that is beyond their job duties, is a violation of our hard-earned contract rights. When we enforce our contract, we’re standing up for state workers and often, collect significant back pay.
