Cook Specialist II & Correctional Supervising Cook, CDCR – CMF Vacaville (DLC 747)

After nearly 12 years of dedicated service, we bid a fond farewell to one of our most steadfast and spirited colleagues—Deborah Donnelly. Hired into state service on November 11, 2013, Debbie brought more than just skill to her role as a Cook Specialist II and later as a Correctional Supervising Cook at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville. She brought heart, grit, and an unwavering commitment to her coworkers and the values we stand for.

From day one, Debbie was a force to be reckoned with. Whether she was leading her team in the kitchen or standing up against contracting out—especially when CHCF began to outsource Custodian work to a private vendor—Debbie never backed down from a fight that mattered. Her advocacy helped protect good union jobs and set a standard for what it means to be a true unionist.

But let’s be honest—retirement hasn’t slowed her down one bit. Debbie finally took that long-awaited dream vacation to Australia (and yes, we’re all a little jealous). Since she couldn’t make the trip while working for the state, we’re thrilled she got to check that off her bucket list. And now that she’s had her fun… well, we’re only half-joking when we say we’re ready to welcome her back—this time as a full-time union warrior! (Just say the word, Debbie!)

Debbie, thank you for everything. Your years of service, your fierce advocacy, and your friendship have left a lasting mark. We wish you a retirement filled with joy, adventure, and well-deserved relaxation. You’ve earned every moment.

Congratulations, Debbie!
