WEC Quarterly Connect Statewide Conference Call

Join the Women’s Empowerment Committee for our Quarterly Connect statewide conference call as we open the discussion with LaPhonsa Butler, the President of Emily’s List, who will be speaking on “The Overturn of Roe v. Wade: Impacts and actions to take.”

As a leader in Democratic politics, campaign strategy, and the labor movement for two decades, she has dedicated her life to empowering women and supporting them in finding their voice, and using it to make meaningful change.

Environmental Committee Turns Out at Sacramento Earth Day Event

On Sunday April 24, 2022, the SEIU Local 1000 Environmental Committee participated in the Sacramento Earth Day event at Southside Park, Sacramento. Sacramento Earth Day is the largest Earth Day celebration in the region, providing people with the knowledge and means to take care of our planet. The theme this year was In This Together. The event was free and thousands of attendees were expected throughout the day.

Purpose Statement

The SEIU Local 1000 Native American Human Rights Committee recognizes that Indigenous People continue to be marginalized. We are all Born Indigenous, regardless of our genealogy, and we commemorate our ancestors through our countenance, speech, and values.  We strive to increase awareness of issues affecting our Indigenous union siblings in the workplace and the community through outreach and education, and to increase union membership, engender respect and justice, and welcome more Indigenous Americans into state service.

The Local 1000 Veterans Committee is committed to being a strong advocate for our union’s military veterans and their families. Our aim is to support veterans of all areas, branches and components.  

The Veterans Committee focus is to have a platform to address veteran’s issues and concerns within our union and our communities.
