Dear State Workers,
The fight for our next Contract continues, and state workers continue to show what we’re capable of when we stand together. You showed up to Days of Action, purpled up at worksites, joined caravans and pop-up events, rallied with your coworkers, and helped spread a message the State can’t ignore: we are fighting for what we deserve.
The stories in this issue are a reminder of what is possible when workers stand together. Whether it’s defending our rights on the job, improving workplace safety, or holding management accountable, every victory strengthens our union and prepares us for the challenges ahead.
We have momentum, we have determination, and we have each other. Now let’s keep moving forward.

All state workers need to go on strike. That’s the only way they’ll listen to our demands. We literally have the power to shut the whole state down! It’s past time!

Agreed, strike! Why should we put up with Gavin’s hypocrisy. California doesn’t need all these offices or the problems that go along with them.
1 There is construction throughout California which creates delay in traveling to and from work everyday!
2. Not to mention gas prices increasing daily. They lie so much that prices are going down and when you get to the gas pump the prices are higher than expected. Then reality hits.
3. We have not received a PAY RAISE IN 2 YEARS!!
4. We continue to do our job and loyal to keep California running smoothly!

The governor is obviously not giving you the time of day, not negotiating in good faith, delaying our cost of living increases, and is violating thw contract agreements. His behavior is unacceptable! We need to strike!!!
I understand we can’t have everything we want but please do your best to bargain for only two days in office if we have to compromise. I am okay with a decreased or no raise for those that can telework since telework provides for reduced costs for commuting, parking and clothing. I agree with those for which it is not feasible to telework to get a full raise. Thank you for all you do!
Those that are refusing to negotiate with us will never negotiate with us until we refuse to work without a better contract. If we don’t do something now, the neglect for what we deserve will only continue. Bullies only stand down when they are stood up to.

We have the strength and power which was clearly shown on July 1st at the Capital. It is time to shut the State down; they need to see what we FEEL. Let’s go 1000!
Need a strike.
I unfortunately will be leaving state service after the 27th if nothing changes with telework. My commute is 3 hours round trip. I’m hoping to hang on as long as I can by using leave, but I won’t have a choice once that is exhausted. We need raises and we need telework as an option for departments. I got my MSA last month and my mortgage escrow went up the same month so I never saw it.
I agree with Gina, we have to strike! it’s unfathomable that we, the workers of this great state that by itself is the world’s FIFTH LARGEST ECONOMY, are treated the way we are. Even one full day of shutting down completely would send the leaders into a tailspin. Enough is enough. We need to show them how we have the power. Especially now with this momentum. Let’s keep it going and strike, DO NOT give in unless our demands are met IN FULL!

We want 7% raises and no more RTO or we STRIKE! Me and my cowoker showed up last Wednesday but what is the action this Wednesday? We’re ready to show up again but the Union needs to be sending more updates and let us know what is next! Better start up the strike schools again and keep that pressure on CalHR!
If the State continues to be unreasonable, we need to shut it all down sooner than later. If “the Union”, which is us, is willing to play hard and get a little dirty, we will get more support from non-members and hopefully convert them over to paying members. I would love to see a schedule of strike workshops before we even go back to the table. If they didn’t like the first offer, let’s ask for even more. Until they have a reasonable counteroffer, they are wasting our time and need to compensate us for such.

California has always led the nation in workers rights, innovation, and equality. We do not just follow national standards. We create them. We work hard, we sacrifice, and we create progress. We are second to NONE. Yet Texas allowing its state employees to work from home has pushed us behind and raises serious questions about Governor Newsom and his leadership. As a proud Californian and a union member, I am ready and willing to strike. Respect us. Pay us.
STRIKE!
We are currently without a contract. Why can’t we strike? Just one day of all state employees not showing up will destroy revenue the state receives and the Governor will see how it will affect our state. We are not Federal employees so I don’t see the reason why we can’t strike to send the message loud and clear “We Are Not Playing”!

Every contract negotiation they always want to give us the bare minimum or nothing at all but are so quick to take from us … contracts are never on time and we always have to wait months later it’s ridiculous…its time to strike that’s the only way they will see the value of state employees …
As Gina said above, which I relayed to my Union Steward a couple of weeks ago, let’s strike!
I say we should refuse to spend anything during working hours. No lunches out; we each bring in our solidarity sandwiches!
