This week, your Unit 14 Bargaining Team continued pushing to protect the rights that members have fought hard to secure over the years.
Your team continued discussions tied to several ongoing classification reviews. The State responded to Requests for Information submitted by our union, which will help support future bargaining proposals and ongoing efforts around classification studies and workplace concerns.
Some of the key issues discussed this week included:
- Protecting Unit 14 Work
Pushing for greater transparency around the State’s contracting practices and defending against efforts to contract out work traditionally performed by Unit 14 members. - Classification Reviews
Continuing discussions tied to several classification studies expected to move forward into the next contract cycle.
While discussions this week focused heavily on protecting existing rights and contract language, the State has still not responded to the core economic proposals our team presented during the previous bargaining session.
“Our focus remains on protecting the work our members do every day and preserving the rights and protections we’ve fought hard to win. At the same time, we’re continuing to push the State to respond to the economic issues our members care deeply about.”
— Robert Vega, Unit 14 Chair
