    1. Telework provides better work-life balance.
    2. State employment would open to state wide candidates, not only for residents near by Sacramento.
    3. 4 days per week back to office is not a fair option for employee with long commute distance even before pandemic.
    4. Suggested flexible telework options for non direct customer facing positions
    5. Suggested full telework for non-direct customer facing employee (IT, office support,.. etc.) who live more than 50 miles away from office.

Working from home has saved me a significant amount of money in today’s expensive economy. By reducing my exposure to illness, I’ve avoided extra doctor visits and related costs. I’ve also cut down on unplanned food purchases, fuel expenses, and routine car maintenance. And of course, eliminating my daily commute means I’ve completely removed the risk of getting into an accident on the way to work.

Commute cost will be out of personal budget range. Among the highest taxed fuel in the county already, pending legislation to charge mileage tax on top of this and NOW THESE CROOKS are requiring us to come in more days a week. UNACCEPTABLE! Not when you realize that we’ve all been doing our jobs from home just fine for years now. This agency could save a huge sum of money on leased properties to office everyone AND save on employees liabilities such as on the job injuries. I think you need to be a low IQ person to run this state!

Working in the office more than once or twice a month makes no sense for our positions. When I work in the office, I am collaborating with my team and coworkers virtually through Teams, etc., anyway because we are all in different locations. We had no problems having enough people to interact with walk-ins. Our office is in the middle of a dense urban area with few affordable parking options and unreliable travel times. As pointed out in our department’s Return to Office Memorandum back in 2024, telework increases retention of employees (an issue we continue to have since the 2-day per week RTO started), allows for a larger pool of potential employees who work too far from our offices, and reduces environmental impacts associated with commuting. We don’t go out to eat and we don’t use public transportation, so there is no economic benefit to those areas. If we were going to spend money on local businesses for lunch, why not spend it in our local communities instead of some other city’s downtown area?

It makes no sense, financially, time, efficiency, and work production to be back at work in-office.

Keep Sacramento the most innovative place on earth by leading in to the future of work life balance – next level. A place where everybody wants to work!

It does not make sense to all gather in one place at the expense of our climate and our time. Especially when the majority of us have successfully worked remotely saving time and money. Why would we even consider polluting our environment at a high cost for gas and wasted time on the road.
Plus some of us are introverts who love the distraction free environment of our home office. Moral is high, productivity is high and we have been enjoying this new world of work and our smog levels are low because of it. As a rank and file employee I am financially strapped and will not likely be able to save any money if having to commute.
There are many compromises to consider such as:
Staggering work hours, alternate work hours, 2 days a week is doable and eases parking .

Gas prices are sky rocketing. Everything else is slowly creeping up. When state employees accomplishes their work remotely, doesn’t make sense to bring them all back into expensive offices and commutes.

I will be left with no money if I have to start paying for daily child care, and gas just to go into the office for a job that is 100% over the computer with no in person client actions. With the commute by the time I make it home it will just be enough time to make dinner and go to bed, how am I suppose to enjoy my family if I’m on the road or in the office.

Since I’ve started going back into the office I’ve notice a shift in my mood towards the appreciation for my job of not having the happy work life balance that our family once had. The typical American lifestyle of not having parents more present mentally for our children to grow healthy bc of work is the vital point here. I like 100 percent telework bc I’m not exhausted from being at an office all day to do what I can do at home. It does not make sense to go to an office to be on teams and zoom all day. Someone make it make sense for me? Please? Thank you
