State workers know Eraina Ortega. For years, she sat across the table from SEIU Local 1000 as the State’s Director of CalHR, helping lead the State’s positions on major issues like furloughs and Return-to-Office.
Now she serves on the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), the body that decides public employee labor law disputes.
That shift makes it important to draw a clear line. We’re making sure that when cases involving our bargaining units come before PERB, our members know those decisions are fully independent from prior management advocacy.
That’s why SEIU Local 1000 has formally requested appropriate recusals and screening procedures.
We’ll always stand up to make sure state workers get a fair shake — at the bargaining table and in the forums that enforce our rights.
