We pride ourselves in being a member-led union. We use our voices to shape the future of SEIU Local 1000, and in a broader sense, we impact the lives of all working people.

I hope you’ll consider becoming a delegate to the SEIU International Convention next May, in Philadelphia, where representatives of SEIU locals from across the nation gather to advance the issues most important to working people: a living wage, safe and secure jobs, and equity and equality for all, on the job, at home, and in our communities.

Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week: November 13 – 19

Career advancement and upward mobility are among the most closely-held union values, and creating pathways for our represented employees to flourish professionally is a priority for SEIU Local 1000.

As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, I’d like to share some history of Local 1000’s apprenticeship efforts and how we have become a nationwide leader in civil service apprenticeship development.

Lawmakers, educators, and community come together at California School for the Deaf, Fremont

Elected leaders came out to see the work we do every day to keep California running, and union workers at California School for the Deaf, Fremont (CSD) provided them with an educational opportunity.

On Friday, November 3rd, elected officials, including state senators, assembly members, and Local 1000 and public education leadership attended a tour of the CSD campus, where they were introduced to staff, students, and community members.
