On July 24th, SEIU had a follow-up meeting with EDD regarding the Return-to-Office (RTO) mandate. SEIU again requested a full breakdown of impacted employees, divisions, and worksite locations that are temporarily exempt, using rotating systems or temporarily delayed due to work space allocation needs. EDD has yet to provide this information and stated that producing it would be overly burdensome. SEIU also raised several items of concern that require further follow-up as EDD did not have answers available during the meeting on July 24. These issues include:
- Incidental telework requests
- Agency wide distance and commute considerations
- Space and relocation plans for offices that continue to have space allocation issues
- Parking availability
Although SEIU continues to present concerns, issues, and proposals to EDD in response to the RTO mandate and its impacts, EDD has remained consistent in their unwillingness to change from the Executive Order of 4 days in office. EDD fully rejected all of SEIU’s initial proposals. SEIU proposed additional counter proposals to EDD, and will need to schedule a future meeting to respond to those proposals as well as the remaining outstanding items.
In response to the RTO mandate and what is happening at the bargaining table, SEIU Local 1000 is planning Strike School sessions and Informational Pickets across California to hold the line and fight for a fair contract. Find a local action and make your voice heard!
