One of the best parts of working for the State is taking vacation. Time off gives us the chance to recharge, travel, and for many of our members, visit family. Recognizing how important this is, we fought for and secured language that guarantees a seniority-based vacation bid process for Unit 15 classifications at every CDCR and CCHCS institution.
The policy, outlined in Section 8.26.15 – Vacation Scheduling Bid (CDCR/CCHCS), ensures fairness and transparency in vacation scheduling. It was designed for institutions that previously lacked a seniority-based system, giving members the ability to plan time off without favoritism or uncertainty.
If your institution does not currently have a seniority-based vacation bid system in place, contact the Unit 15 Chair at [email protected]. We can help set up a Joint Labor Management Committee (JLMC) to discuss and implement the process. This is your right, and we’re here to make sure it happens.
