SEIU Local 1000 has received notice from DGS of its plans to implement biometric time clocks at worksites in Sacramento sometime this summer.
Since 2022, your union has been actively engaging with the State and your department to discuss this issue. Biometric time clocks have already been introduced in several state-owned buildings, and we continue to monitor their rollout and address concerns as they arise.
Here are a few important clarifications:
- No fingerprints or palm prints are stored by the biometric clocks.
- No personal biometric data is transmitted or shared externally.
- The system is used solely for timekeeping and is not connected to any immigration enforcement agencies.
