Local 1000 Job Stewards are on the front lines of protecting our hard-earned contract rights. We’re building a strong representational team of member-leaders who will make our jobs better and our Union stronger.
Applications are due 5pm, Friday, August 9 for our Leadership Apprentice Program for Stewards (LAPS) FastTrack training that begins on September 7.
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new online application process for the Job Steward Training Program at SEIU Local 1000! This streamlined process makes it easier and more convenient for you to apply to become a Job Steward with our union.
What is a Job Steward?
A Job Steward is a dedicated member of SEIU Local 1000 who serves as a workplace leader and advocate. In this role, you help enforce our union contract, support your coworkers, and address workplace issues. Being a Job Steward is a powerful way to contribute to improving conditions and advocating for fair treatment in your workplace.
Why Become a Job Steward?

About LAPS:
The Leadership Apprentice Program for Stewards (LAPS) equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to be an effective Job Steward. This training ensures you can advocate effectively for your fellow employees and support the goals of SEIU Local 1000.

- Simple Steps:After applying, you’ll need to submit two letters of recommendation and gather 25 supporter signatures from coworkers.
