What an incredible year it has been for Unit 15! We’ve hit numerous benchmarks and achieved significant milestones that have made this year truly exciting. Our stewardship has grown by over 10 new stewards, and we are eagerly looking forward to expanding even more in 2025. This growth is crucial as it strengthens our campaigns and keeps Unit 15 at the forefront of the state’s agenda.

If you’re interested in becoming a steward, please visit our website and fill out the application. Our steward calls and membership calls are fantastic opportunities for us to connect, share ideas, and address any concerns. We look forward to seeing you on our next Zoom call, where we can continue to learn and grow together.

Reflecting on this past year, we’ve seen many great activities from Unit 15. Most notably, at the California School for the Deaf, we’ve been utilizing the JLMC process to address and resolve issues at the lowest level. Employees there are experiencing the benefits of voicing their opinions and becoming more engaged.

Upward mobility has been a hot topic, especially for our custodians. I’m thrilled to announce that our first class of the apprentice program has graduated, and we’re gearing up for round two this summer. Stay tuned for more information on how to apply and be part of this fantastic program.

We’ve also been actively pushing back against the state’s attempts to outsource our work. We firmly believe that Unit 15 jobs should remain civil service jobs, and we will continue to advocate for this because this is important for all of us.

I always look forward to keeping you updated on what’s happening in the world of Unit 15. If you have a story you’d like to share, please email us at [email protected]. Have a happy holiday season, and I look forward to connecting with you in the new year!

Warm regards,
