Women’s Empowerment Committee: Tearing Down Challenges and Barriers

Post

SEIU Local 1000’s members change California every day they step into work. The mission of Local 1000’s Women’s Empowerment Committee is to bring that change out of the workplace and into the lives of the women who make our state run. Our goal is to tear down the challenges and barriers that many women working for the state face.

Starting your own business is a daunting task, and for female entrepreneurs, the challenge can be even more difficult. The Women’s Empowerment Committee is hosting a Female Entrepreneurship Call with Toyia Jackson of Iconic Choice Advisors to discuss the issues that women face in the business world and share resources on the development of a home business.

Toyia has coached clients throughout the United States since 2012, growing her team to discuss everything from starting up your business, to mediating disputes within existing teams, to developing accountability for C-Level Executives & Investors. State workers at any stage of their careers are welcome to participate in the discussion.

With 10 years’ experience in real estate, contract negotiation, brand strategy, and start-up advisory, this discussion will address the real problems faced by women building their own company. In the spirit of the Women’s Empowerment Committee’s mission statement, this call will provide an opportunity for the women of SEIU Local 1000 to develop leadership excellence and mentor the next generation of SEIU Women.

This call will be held virtually on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. You can register for the Quarterly Connect Call here. For any questions or concerns, please email Women’s Empowerment Committee chair Tracie Kimbrough at
