On January 7th, 2025, the Unit 1 Analyst Reclassification team met with CalHR to discuss the Analyst reclassification and consolidation. The team addressed questions and concerns from members submitted via email, town-halls, and the Analyst Reclassification Survey.

Key topics included why some classifications were excluded from the reclass list. CalHR explained that these classifications did not meet the minimum qualifications, task levels, or pay structures of the other included classifications. The Unit 1 Team is now working with CalHR to consider certain classifications the Membership feels should be included in this effort.

Further discussions also covered naming structures, probationary periods, and the possibility of a secondary mapping and appeals process for employees who wish to challenge their placement.

At this time, the Unit 1 Team will use all gathered information and feedback to draft a comprehensive proposal which will be presented to CalHR at the next meeting on February 20th. This proposal will be written based on the needs, wants, feedback, and suggestions of our members, as well as items previously discussed with CalHR.

The Unit 1 Team wishes to thank all of the members who have been sending questions, suggestions, and feedback, and we encourage everyone to continue providing their input. While we are still quite early in this process, continued membership engagement is essential to ensure that our members’ voices are heard loud and clear, and that no one is left behind or disregarded during this process.

Please continue to send questions to the Unit 1 inbox at [email protected]  and stay tuned for future town-halls and updates coming soon!
